A Critical Week in Canadian Politics Begins

Dear friends and Parkdale-High Park neighbours,

The House of Commons officially opens today, and on Tuesday the government will set out their agenda for this Parliamentary Session in the Governor-General's Speech from the Throne.

Will Canadians have the right to a debate in parliament before its troops are committed to overseas missions such as the one in Afghanistan? Will the new government honour promises made to families across Canada to improve child care? Will this new government make meeting Canada's environmental commitments to the world a priority?

This week will answer these questions, and chart the course of the federal legislative agenda for the foreseeable future. I will report to you at the end of the week, and let you know my response to the road map presented to us by the Conservatives.

Any views and opinions you have watching as events unfold will be much appreciated by me. Please email [email protected], or visit my website, or call my office at 416-769-5072.

I also want to take this opportunity to invite you and your family to attend the official opening of my constituency office on Sunday, April 23 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. The office is located at 2849 Dundas Street just east of Keele. Drop by and bring a friend.

Enjoy the intermittent spring weather - warmer days are almost here!

Yours truly,

Peggy Nash, MP
