Nash speaks out on Harper gun registry failure while attending December 6th events in Quebec
Montreal / Dec 6, 2021 — NDP Leadership Candidate Peggy Nash will attend events in Montreal and Quebec City Tuesday marking the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
“It’s shameful that while Quebecers and Canadians across the country are remembering the victims of violence against women, Stephen Harper is working to dismantle the gun registry,” said Nash.
“Rather than trying to fix the registry to make sure legitimate concerns are addressed while keeping our communities safe, Stephen Harper is simply trying to divide Canadians. As leader of the NDP, I will work to restore the registry in a way that makes sure that it works for all Canadians,” continued Nash.
Nash will be in Montreal to attend a gathering organized by several women’s rights groups to commemorate the victims of the Polytechnique shooting and to propose solutions to end violence against women.
From there she will travel to Quebec City to join a march opposing violence against women organized by the Ensemble contre la violence faite aux femmes committee.
