Nash adds another Quebec MP to list of endorsers

Toronto / March 1, 2022 – Raymond Côté, NDP MP for Beauport–Limoilou and critic for Small Business and Tourism (Minister of State), announced his support today of NDP leadership candidate, Peggy Nash.

Part of the committed team of grassroots New Democrats who helped lay the foundations for Quebec’s orange wave, Côté said of Nash: “Peggy is the best choice for Quebec. The remarkable team she has attracted here is a testament to the hope she inspires, the energy she ignites, and the sincere reverence she has for our unique perspective and experience.”

Elected to the House of Commons as part of the NDP’s historic 2011 breakthrough in Quebec, Côté joins fellow Quebec NDP caucus members Laurin Liu (Rivière-des-Mille-Îles), Elaine Michaud (Portneuf-Jacques-Cartier), Dany Morin (Chicoutimi—Le Fjord), Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet (Hochelaga), and Anne Minh-Thu Quach (Beauharnois—Salaberry).

Nash has received early support from Pierre Ducasse, former advisor on Quebec to Jack Layton and principal author of the Party’s “Sherbrooke Declaration”.

Thanking Côté for his endorsement, Nash said: “Raymond’s leadership within the federal caucus and in the Quebec NDP is inspiring. To have his support is a tremendous honour.”

“Peggy is a uniter and a leader within our Caucus. Her expertise on the economy will be an essential element to the NDP defeating the Conservatives and forming government in 2015. What’s more, Peggy understands and respects the concerns of Quebeckers. She has what it takes to build our Party in Quebec and garner new support from all parts of Canada.”
